Geoffrey GodboldDirector - Colonel Geoffrey Godbold OBE

Colonel Geoffrey Godbold OBE was a Trustee of HRA for almost a decade and has ridden horses for over 50 years including working as a cowboy in Canada. He has played polo for over 30 years and is a former Chairman of Ham Polo Club at Petersham where he's now one of its Vice-Presidents.

He served in the TA and commanded the Honourable Artillery Company in 1985/86 and was awarded the OBE for outstanding leadership during his tour of command of the HAC.

Geoffrey is currently the Representative Deputy Lieutenant for Kingston upon Thames.

He says “Having been very involved with cadets, horses and charities for so much of my life, I have always admired this organisation, so it is a great privilege to be asked to become its Director. I look forward to fulfilling the role and to the positive and fun time which we are going to have".

Geoffrey ran his own marketing consultancy for 20 years with clients such as the Motor Show and Yves Saint Laurent Perfumes.

Justine BelcherJustine Belcher - Office & Facilities Manager

Justine first became involved with HRA in 2010 as a volunteer for our Riding for the Disabled activities before joining as a member of staff in 2011. She continues to volunteer for the Thursday morning RDA class, which runs during term-time.

Justine originally trained in fashion and graphic design, working as a creative director then as a Design Manager in a London Studio. Where she project managed corporate events and fashion shows. She also worked for many years for Kingston Adult Education and Family learning as a part time Drawing and illustration tutor.

We have been fortunate in being able to utilise her creative abilities in updating the Adopt A Horse package, as an original member of the RDA “crafty ladies” fundraising team she created greetings cards, note books and calendars to help with our fundraising efforts.

Growing up in Yorkshire, Justine rode regularly and enjoys the opportunity to help out in the stables at the Mews in her spare time. Her other interests include: Her new puppy Wesson, Drawing and Illustration and spending time with her family and friends.

Jamila HussainJamila Hussain – Membership and Office Administrator

Jamila joined the HRA in February 2016. She is responsible for co-ordinating the waiting list, managing our membership and the recruitment of new Rangers. Previous to working here, Jamila studied Costume at a drama school in London, working freelance in theatre after graduating before moving on to working in the charity sector.

Nicki WyssNicki Wyss - Fundraising and Volunteers Manager

Nicki joined HRA in April 2016. Nicki grew up in the Cotswolds and has had a love of horses from a young age; having ridden throughout her life including working with racehorses during her teenage years before sadly realising that she was perhaps too tall to make it as a jockey! Nicki is an advocate for Equine Assisted Therapy and has a keen interest in Psychology having studied this at university.

Previous job roles in the fields of Domestic Abuse, Student and Family Education and Supported Housing have provided Nicki with a wealth of experience in working with vulnerable adults and children in supporting their emotional, social and behavioural well being.


Stable Staff

Theresa barrettTheresa Barrett - Stable Manager/ Head Girl

Theresa joined Horse Rangers at the tender age of eight and progressed through the organisation to become an officer and our chief instructor. She joined HRA’s stable staff in 1993 and was promoted to head girl/stable manager in 1999. Theresa is responsible for the day-to-day management and wellbeing of our horses. In addition to her weekday work at the stables, Theresa continues to be an active officer and instructor in Squadron 3.

Theresa is a BHS AI and is our Chief Instructor. She works closely with Alistair Blamire, our equitation officer, on the training and development we give to our Officers and Instructors and is responsible for promoting our Junior Instructors and Instructors.

Theresa is lead rider in our Musical Ride Display Team where she usually rides Nat or Disney.  Theresa’s favourite horses on the yard are Adam, Ascot and Nat, although she loves all of them in different ways.

Georgie RiderGeorgie Rider - Deputy Stable Manager/ Deputy Head Girl

Georgie joined Squadron 5 at eight years of age and recalls that Sandal was the first pony she ever rode. She moved up to Squadron 3 where she remains an active officer and instructor. Georgie joined HRA’s stable staff in 1999 and was promoted to Theresa’s deputy six years later. Georgie’s extra responsibilities include ordering all the horses’ feed and bedding each week and putting the horses at the paddocks away on a Sunday night.

Georgie has been a member of our Musical Ride Display Team since she was 18, where she invariably rides Samson. At the yard, Perry, Ben and Samson are her favourites.

Becky MayBecky May - Senior Groom

Becky joined HRA in 2004. Prior to this she worked in the animal department at Squires Garden Centre. She then completed a National Diploma in Equine Studies at Guilford College Merrist Wood Campus. Becky has been riding since she was nine and is currently working towards her BHS Stage three qualifications.

Becky’s favourites at the yard are Flora, Malcolm and Sam.

Kerry BedfordKerry Bedford - Groom

Kerry became a Horse Ranger in 2000, originally as a member of Squadron 5 before joining Squadron 2. During her teens she was also part of the Musical Ride Display Team. She has always loved being around the young people and horses and learning new things.

Kerry became a member of the stable staff in 2010. She has completed her BHS stage one qualification.

Kerry’s favourites around the yard are Solly, Krystal and Joey.
